Sakura Bloom Scout Review

Simple, gorgeous, compact. This carrier is absolutely beautiful and super functional too.

The Scout is definitely less comfortable than something like the Ergobaby Omni 360 for longer wears or extended hikes with heavy littles, but it's plenty comfortable for short errands or longer wears with lighter babes. Speaking of lighter babes, it fits newborns so well and is just as amazing for wearing larger babies and toddlers on the front or back.

The only bummer is that the Scout is inward facing front carry or back carry only, so if a front facing front carry option is important to you, you probably will want the Ergobaby Omni 360 instead (or also).

Things I Love About the Sakura Bloom Scout

Absolutely Gorgeous Carrier: Made of sumptuous linens in beautiful colors, the Sakura Bloom Scout has subtle stitching, nice trims, and classy hardware. Some of these nice-on-the-eye details make this carrier less practical than beasts like the Ergobaby Omni 360 or the Lillebaby Complete, so be sure you're aware of the compromises you're making.
Infant-Ready: The Sakura Bloom Scout does not need an infant insert and is safe for babies 7-45 pounds.
For Toddlers and Small Children Too: The Scout is rated for kiddos up to 45 pounds, which for those of you who haven’t memorized the pediatrician’s height/weight chart, is somewhere between ages 4 and 6.
Surprisingly Comfortable: Like the Happy Baby Carrier, the Scout is only lightly padded at the shoulders, but its wider-than-average shoulder straps actually make it quite comfortable to wear.
Very Compact: This and the Happy Baby Carrier are the only front-carry soft structured carriers we could find that fold compactly enough to fit in a diaper bag. It’s also 30-40% lighter than most other carriers out there.
Lightweight but Cozy: Thanks to the lightweight linen fabric, the Scout is comfortable in both warm and cool climates.

Things I Don't Love As Much About the Sakura Bloom Scout

Only Two of Four Carry Positions: Inward-facing and back carry are the only two options. (These are the best two positions anyway.)
Unpadded Seat: The seat on the Scout is unpadded. With a proper seat, this isn’t typically a problem, but some parents have had issues with the fabric cutting into small chunky thighs and leaving (non-permanent) red marks.
Somewhat Impractical Hardware: Sakura Bloom chose to use low tech ring sling-style rings instead of heavy duty buckles. While these look nice—like way nicer than buckles—they are decidedly less practical. Those with limited shoulder mobility may find it difficult to buckle the strap behind your neck, though this is hardly a problem for most.
