Woombie Swaddle Review

The Woombie works. It is only available in two tog weights– 0.2 and 1.0– both of which are more suitable for warmer climates. If you have a winter baby or it gets chilly where you live at night, this is probably not the right swaddle for you. Another bonus: It also comes in an extra large “Mega” size, fitting babies up to 25 pounds, which is great for larger pre-rolling babies who still feel most secure when swaddled.

Things We Love

Snug and Secure with Some Arm Freedom: Assuming you have the correct size, one zip and your baby is swaddled securely. Within the zipped swaddle, your baby will have some arm freedom, but there will be no Houdini-style escape artistry from this swaddle.
Four Sizes, Including Preemie and Mega: The Woombie is available in four sizes. Premie (P) fits premature babies (16-17 inches, 3-6lbs). Newborn fits babies from birth to three months (20-22 inches, 5-13lbs). Big Baby fits babies from three to six months (24-26 inches, 14-19lbs). And Mega fits the rare ones, six to nine months, who are not yet rolling over and still sleep best swaddled (27-29 inches, 20-25lbs).
One or Three Swaddle Options: The Woobie Original allows for only one swaddle option– arms in. The Woombie Convertible allows for both arms in, one arm out, or both arms out.
Easy Diaper Changes: The two-way zipper makes swaddled diaper changes possible.

Things We Don't Love As Much

Hit or Miss Designs: Woombie has lots of crazy patterns and colors, but if you dig a bit, you’ll be able to find subtle designs and neutral colors, like Freebird and Organic Vintage Linen.
Easy but Not Foolproof: To swaddle, place baby on top of the Woombie and zip everything in. For some babies, it’s as easy as that. For squirmier babes, this “zip everything in” bit can prove challenging, and you may wish you had a third hand for the job.
Medium and Summer Weight Only: Woombie’s organic and original swaddles are 1.0 tog. Their summer weight swaddles are super light at 0.2 tog, making them awesome for swaddled naps during hot summers. If you live in a cold climate, you will need to dress your baby in multiple layers underneath the Woombie, or opt for a different swaddle, like the Gunapod, ErgoCocoon, or Halo Sleep Sack Swaddle.
Not So Easy for Feeding: In order to feed with the arms out, you’ll have to take off the Woombie entirely.
