With its beautiful colorways and soft, moisture-wicking fabric, the Ollie Swaddle is a wonderful option for those who want a swaddle that is both effective and nice on the eye. It secures below the shoulders, which is a bit different than most swaddles, and can take a bit of getting used to. Once you get the hang of it though, the Ollie Swaddle works like a charm and grows with your baby, too. It only comes in one weight– lightweight– and is great for warmer climates but not ideal for cooler nights.
Things We Love
- Simple, Neutral Colors: Ollie swaddles come in simple colors and are made of beautiful, high quality fabric. They definitely have a luxe look about them.
- Snug and Secure… If You Do it Right: Secure this swaddle beneath baby's shoulders by stretching the fabric and velcroing it shut. It's important to position this swaddle exactly right to prevent baby Houdinis from escaping. (See how to video below.)
- Single Lightweight Option: This swaddle comes in a single, lightweight, moisture-wicking fabric. Although it is not officially TOG rated, the Ollie Swaddle is similar to a 1.0 TOG. (For more on warmth, see our TOG chart.)
- One Size Fits Many: Because the swaddle isn't closed at the end (you secure it with a rubber band or by tying it), your baby can continue to use this swaddle in the single size provided until he or she outgrows the need to be swaddled.
- Multiple Swaddle Options: This swaddle allows multiple arm positions (arms in or out).
- Easy Diaper Changes: You can leave the Ollie Swaddle on baby for diaper changes and feedings, since the bottom is loose. It's also fairly simple to take off and put on again.
Things We Don't Love As Much
- Easy but Not Foolproof: Swaddling requires a couple simple steps (see video below). Getting the swaddle perfectly positioned is the hardest part and will take a bit of practice.
- Escapable: You must secure this swaddle at the exact right position for baby to remain swaddled. Most parents get the hang of this pretty easily, but you might find that your baby can wiggle free the first few times you try to use the Ollie Swaddle.
- Not for Cool Climates: With their lightweight, moisture-wicking fabric, these swaddles are great for warmer climates, but not so great for cool nights.
- Not So Easy for Feeding: In order to feed with the arms out, you’ll have to take off the Ollie entirely.
